ABOUT SHERGOLD GUITARS

Some things are created by machines or design companies going thru endless iterations, trying different things and asking focus groups how they rate certain elements.

But we believe that tools for artists should be created by an artist. Someone who understands what makes an instrument unique and special. Someone who creates a unique canvas onto which you paste your own masterpiece - Nothing genuinely inspirational ever came from a committee.

Patrick James Eggle has been designing and building guitars for nearly 40 years, and it is his vision that you are seeing in Shergold. During the late 1970s and early 80s, Shergold guitars and basses were powering icons of the era such as Genesis, Joy Division and New Order, but even then, Shergold was a choice made by those who wanted to stand up and be counted. Those who wanted to push boundaries and break the mould. Those who were creating something new and unique.

Based in the Shropshire headquarters of award-winning UK musical instrument distributors Barnes & Mullins, Patrick and his team have worked tirelessly creating a 21st century guitar designed for power with a stage-ready setup. Handmade in our workshops in Indonesia and China, staffed by highly trained, skilled guitar builders, each guitar is carefully setup in the UK by our expert team prior to leaving our base.

The latest Shergold guitars have been championed by a host of bands and artists and can be seen on stages around the world in the hands of Manic Street Preachers, The Sherlocks, And So I Watch You From Afar, We Were Promised Jetpacks and The Blinders to name but a few.

Since being launched in early 2017, the guitars have picked up an impressive list of awards including being voted 'The UK's Best Electric Guitar 2017' (SM01-SD Thru-Dirty Blonde) and received widespread recognition throughout the musical instrument industry.
